CGC Interiors Director Rob Beswick has spoken to the Daily Express about how consumers could take some simple steps to reduce their energy bills.
Customers will likely face a substantial rise in their energy costs in the autumn, with Ofgem currently expected to raise its price cap to £1,723, a rise of £155 from £1,568. With it currently being the middle of summer, you may not be thinking about your energy bills, but you can apparently get a head start.
Beswick said:
“Investing in a more energy-efficient shower head could save you around £71 over the course of a year. They work by restricting the amount of water that comes through your shower head, resulting in less water for the same length of a shower.”
He added that reducing your showering time to four minute from seven minutes could save you a further £61. That’s a total saving of £132 with two simple changes, almost enough to cancel out the expected rise in energy prices in winter. Energy use is also of course much higher in winter, but savings can be made here too. Beswick says you can cut your heating bills by 10% by reducing the temperature from 25 to 15 degrees overnight.
He also mentioned the importance of an annual boiler service to ensure its working efficiently. Xgas can provide a boiler service in Chester, so get in touch to book an appointment and explore monthly care plans that include a boiler service.
