Is low gas pressure a problem for your boiler?

Both water and gas pressure are important for the correct functioning of a gas boiler heating system so that the water is hot enough and flows well.

Low gas pressure is not usually a danger to a boiler, but needs fixing. A sign of low gas pressure in combi boilers is that the hot water is not heated to the desired temperature. In winter, showers are warm rather than hot.

Non-combi boiler users may not notice the difference. It may take longer for the water that flows through the radiators to heat up, but the system does not need the quick production of hot water that is a feature of comb boilers.

Low gas pressure in systems that heat water in a cylinder will take more time to reach the correct temperature.

A gas engineer can identify low gas pressure and then determine if the fault is in the external pipeline or within the building’s pipes. If external, it is the gas network providers responsibly to restore adequate pressure. If the gas inlet pressure is fine but the boiler is still not heating the water well, it is possible that the property’s gas pipes are partially blocked, or the boiler inlet valve filter may need replacing.

If your gas boiler is not heating water to the right temperature or is taking longer than normal to heat, ask Xgas to send out a gas engineer to your Wrexham property to check if this is caused by low gas pressure.
