What should you expect when an engineer fits a new boiler?

When you purchase a new or replacement gas boiler, you can expect a few things from the engineer who comes to fit it.

Firstly, the engineer is required to carry paperwork that confirms that they are on the Gas Safe Register. By law, non-registered engineers are not allowed to fit a new gas boiler.

The engineer will check the existing flue pipe to make sure it is positioned correctly for the new boiler. The old boiler will be removed, and the engineer should take it away for disposal.

Before fitting the boiler, the central heating system will be flushed. The pipework may require upgrading.

The new boiler can either be installed in the same location as the old boiler or a different one. After fitting the new boiler, the engineer tests that it is working correctly and can be relied on to heat the radiators and supply hot water.

Before the engineer leaves, he should register the boiler installation and give you the paperwork required for the new boiler warranty.

Expect a new boiler installation to take a day or more as it is a complex task. Replacing the same type of boiler in the same location could take a day or less, but installing it in a different place or upgrading the pipes will be a longer job.

For boiler installation in the Chester, Wrexham or Oswestry areas, you can rely on highly trained Xgas engineers for expert installation of boilers with long warranties.
