Worcester Bosch vs. Vaillant boilers

Getting a new boiler is a considerable investment, and it’s not unreasonable to expect it to last many years when serviced regularly. It’s therefore perfectly understandable that you want to make the right choice.

Choosing between a boiler from Worcester Bosch or Vaillant can be a factor in this. Both are popular brands in the UK, making it onto our list of best boiler brands for 2025, so here’s a quick guide to help you decide.

About Worcester Bosch and Vaillant

Cecil Duckworth founded the Worcester Engineering Co Ltd in 1962 in Worcester. It went on to make innovative and efficient boilers to meet the hot water and heating needs of homes for over six decades. Since 1992, it has been part of the Bosch group under the Worcester Bosch brand.

Vaillant is a German-based brand with an even longer history going back to 1874. In the 1960s, it led as a market leader in developing the now-prevalent combi boiler. Like Worcester Bosch, it continues to be a leading heating brand, and despite its German origins, its boilers are manufactured in the UK.

What is the reputation of each brand?

Both their boilers are popular among consumers and suppliers, with them being trusted and reliable brands. They have also both been recognised with various consumer awards. For example, Worcester Bosch’s Greenstar boiler range has earned Which? Best Buy status for several consecutive years. Vaillant has also won its share of awards as well, such as for the Best Internal/Interior Product at the 2018 Housebuilder Product Awards. There is very little to distinguish them in this regard.

Looking at customer reviews on the TrustPilot platform in early-September 2025, Worchester Bosch had almost 50,000 reviews and an average rating of 4.6 stars. Vaillant UK, meanwhile, had almost 22,000 reviews with an average rating of 4.5 stars. Worchester Bosch edges ahead here, although both brands are clearly popular and well regarded.

How do they compare on price?

Neither Worcester Bosch nor Vaillant can be considered a budget brand, so there are cheaper options available. That said, many feel it’s worth paying a premium for a brand with a reputation for making boilers that are efficient and reliable. You should also bear in mind that the cost of the boiler is just part of the total installation cost. Between the two brands, Worcester Bosch boilers tend to be a little less expensive, although exact prices will depend on your supplier.

What are the pros and cons of each brand

When it comes to aftersales care, Worcester Bosch offers a 10-year guarantee on its mainstream boilers when installed by an accredited supplier. Guarantees of up to 12 years are also available with some selected boilers. The case is much the same with Vaillant boilers, so you can expect your boiler to work for many years either way. Note that your boiler needs to be serviced annually by an approved engineer to maintain the guarantee, but this is something that should be done with any boiler.

The boilers from both brands are highly efficient with ERP A ratings. For example, Worcester Bosch boilers can be as much as 99.5% efficient for heating when operated at 30% capacity. That means it needs to burn less gas to achieve the same result, leading to lower heating bills.

Both manufacturers make a range of combi, regular and system boilers with various capacities. Worcester Bosch perhaps has the edge here because the Greenstar 8000+ combi range goes up to 50kW, which may be needed in a high-demand home. Many of its boilers are available in LPG versions for off-grid properties, and it also makes oil boilers.

Which is better?

As you can see, both Worcester Bosch and Vaillant are popular brands with well-deserved reputations for making innovative, reliable and efficient gas boilers. You will likely be happy with either brand, with the choice perhaps being driven by your particular needs. Between the two, however, Worcester Bosch has some advantages in terms of price, product range and customer reviews on TrustPilot.
